Mirror iPad to PC

Ok so this is for church use not business but I guess this problem will have come up in a meeting/school environment too so...

I would like to be able to mirror an iPad to a projector via a windows 7 laptop, with or without apple tv.

Let me explain further: I need to be able to control powerpoints, keynotes and prezis for services from an ipad wirelessly from the front of the church (by the minister). However we also need to be able to connect an 2nd montior screen so it has to be done via the laptop and not just apple tv on the projector. We do have apple tv and a router with which to run a network for said apple tv. However it would be best if

A) we did it w/o apple tv (as apple tv is mine and I will be leaving my church in a few months for university)

B) any mirroring software is either FREE or AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE (pref. with a one time cost)

A single license would be fine for any software cus at one time we's only have one person using it (either me or minister)

Oh yes, I nearly forgot, also, I need a solution which will also work on Windows 8. I don't run it at present (deep mistrust) but the time may come by Uni that I need a new laptop and Windows 8 is forced upon me. Also Minister is a little less confident in tech stuff and thus is more likely to have Windows 8 in the nearer future (because Microsoft is determined to make as many people as possible suffer from it).

I know this sounds an odd request, which is why I'm having so much difficulty finding an answer! Hope someone can help me!

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 7.1.1, PC is currently Windows 7

There are free and paid software packages that will mirror iOS devices to laptop

They all basically mimic Apple TV airplay and mirroring

It you choose to use one of these programmes you won't need an Apple TV

Airserver is one of these programmes, you install it on your laptop

Connect the laptop to a projector or screen

The laptop running airserver will appear as an Apple TV to any iOS device on the wireless network

Airserver offer a free 7 day trial version ( no Apple TV required)

Air parrot will mirror your laptop to an Apple TV (requires Apple TV)

Air parrot also has a free trial

You can run Windows on a Mac laptop if you must. You can install Linux on your pc today. You may try linux out with a live cd or dvd with something like Ubuntu. On a Mac or PCl, you can install Oracles VirtalBox to run Windows if you must. On a Mac or PC, you can run many Windows applications with the assistance of a program called Wine.

The college I regularly visit, there has been a migration to Mac laptops.

You should check out Annotate. http://annotate.net

It has Airplay mirroring like the Airserver and Reflector but also has a mobile interactive whiteboard and remote desktop control allowing you to control apps like PowerPoint or Keynote running on your PC or Mac. Also supports Chromecast Mirroring so you do get a lot of bang for the buck.

Bonus - even if you decide to use the free accont, you are still allowed 10 minutes of screen mirroring time (without audio) everyday, indefinitely.
